Can't get enough of Salt Dough!!

Someone asked a question on a Facebook Group for Art Teachers earlier this week. They were having difficulty inspiring GCSE 3D design students, who loved to do practical work but were not inspired enough at home to get stuck into the research work they had to do. They were becoming switched off, and we can't expect them all to fork out the expense of buying clay.

An interesting challenge! Salt Dough seemed to be a good solution which several teachers suggested. So this week I've been busy making Salt Dough sculptures. Mainly tiles which are a good starter. Students are still able to lean some useful techniques, like building and layering slabs, coiling and impress. Once they've got the hang of these, they will have a much clearer idea of the limitation and possibilities for Salt Dough Sculpture.

I've started a project page here. Now I've got the Salt Dough bug I am developing other ideas to add to it.

The downloadable and editable PowerPoint is here.
