Controlling the pencil to create smooth, neat and accurate gradual shading is a very important skill in art.
Gradual shading can help to give an object form. This means making it look more 3 dimensional. Use the attached worksheet to help you improve your gradual shading. Watch this video first where you will see me shading the worksheet. Notice how I:
Turn the worksheet so that my pencil is pointing towards the line. This helps to keep my shading inside the line.
Shade in different directions. This helps to make my shading smooth.
Rub gently with my finger to make the shading blend together and make it more even.
